There are many weight loss supplements on the market today and available for consumer use. Some of these supplements have shown great promise in helping the individual lose weight through the various actions that they perform.

Therefore, in regards to Garcinia Cambogia it is important to know what this weight loss supplement is, how it works and what the clinical studies reveal.

What is Garcinia Cambogia Extract?

Garcinia Gambogia has been shown to be an effective weight loss supplement taken by individuals to help them in achieving their weight loss goals.

Garcinia Cambogia extract is a natural product that is derived from the rind of the tamerind fruit.  This fruit is indigent to the countries of Asia and India and has been used for centuries by the native population for a variety of health benefits.

The active ingredient that helps promote weight loss in the individual is known as hydroxychloride acid or HCA.  This active ingredient not only helps to convert into energy the stored fat in the body, but helps to send signals to the brain and prevent overeating by acting as an appetite suppressant.  This is critical because the release of serotonin in the brain helps the individual to help prevent emotional eating.

Clinical Studies

Consequently, it is important to read clinical studies that have been conducted on this product to see if there is any scientific evidence that the product lives up to its claims and helps an individual in achieving their weight loss goals.

One study was conducted in which the active participants were divided up into two groups.  The ages of these participants ranged anywhere from 20 to 65 years of age.  These individuals were characterized as being moderately obese.  The study utilized the double-blind placebo system with one group receiving the Garcinia Cambogia extract supplement and the other group receiving a placebo.

Over a 12 week period, the 44 participants did not make any changes to their dietary habits nor did they change the way that they exercised or their level of activity.

In the one group that took the Garcinia Cambogia, the reflected weight loss that could be characterized as significant.  The areas of fat loss were both visceral or deep and subcutaneous or just underneath the skin.  The significant reflection of lost weight was across all of the participants in this group and there were no noted changes in regards to whether they were male or female.

In addition to the loss of fat, there were other significant findings.  Those findings included a decrease in cholesterol, less eating of food, and a decrease in triglycerides as well as low-density lipoproteins and serum leptin levels.

Dosage

The recommended dosage of Garcinia Cambogia is anywhere from 500 to a maximum of 3000 mg per day.  The supplement should be taken three times a day or once before each meal.  In addition, the supplement should be taken with a full glass of water and ingested anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes prior to the ingestion of the meal.
